GovCloud Best Practices Solutions Guide – Version 1.00

One of our flagship best practice programs is GovCloud.info.

This presents a world-wide summary of Government Cloud Computing, in particular the USA standards organization NIST and also CIO.gov.

Recently they published another Cloud Best Practices guide for GovCloud, called “Best Practices for Acquiring IT as a Service”.

Download the 44-page PDF here.

This describes their recommendations for a number of building blocks that provide the foundation for safe Cloud Computing in the public sector, such as:

  • Contracting and billing
  • FedRAMP Security
  • IDaaS standards – Identity as a Service
  • Privacy and Compliance
  • Data Location
  • E-Discovery and FOIA access

The purpose of our guide is to showcase vendor solutions and how they match up to these requirements.

For example in this previous article we described how ‘E-Discovery Social Search’ is modelled – In terms of the application functionality and also how it would be deployed in line with the NIST models described in this CIO.gov Cloud Best Practices guide.

So this technology would provide a match for the ‘E-Discovery and FOIA access‘ category identified in the CIO.gov document. We’ll be providing an ongoing showcase of how other vendors and service providers match up the same way.

Here is the first version of the GovCloud Best Practices Solutions Guide:

Download GovCloudPDF

This provides an overview of Cloud Best Practices for the public sector, by reviewing NIST and other relevant standards documentation, and then using these as a context for providing a listing of vendor products and technologies.

Updates and relevant news accouncements are sent out via the GovCloud.info newsletter.
